On three hot, humid summer days in July of 1863, the most significant battle in the American Civil War was fought. The battle of Gettysburg took place in Gettysburg, PA from July 1 to July 3, 1863. The Union and the Confederate forces met in an epic battle that would determine the future of the United States and our position on the world stage. To understand the United States, you must understand the importance of the Civil War and this battle. In this unit, you will explore the causes and effects of the battle of Gettysburg. Who were the leaders and the heroes of this battle. There are several parts to this unit that you must review and a quiz that you will take to determine your understanding of this topic.
